Job summary

DC Army National Guard Infantry personnel serve as the backbone of ground operations, executing missions to take or hold ground using advanced weapons and tactics. Soldiers train extensively, earning pay during training periods and qualifying for education benefits.

Training includes 14 weeks of Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Members receive a monthly paycheck, tuition assistance, Montgomery GI Bill, and other benefits, while committing to part-time service.

Qualifications

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED
• Must be between ages 17 and 35
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
• Must meet citizenship requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist in reconnaissance operations
• Operate weapon systems under various conditions, including night vision sights
• Operate and maintain communications equipment
• Perform as a member of a fire team during training and combat missions
• Process prisoners of war and captured documents
• Aid in mobilization of vehicles, troops, and weaponry
• Use, maintain, and store combat weapons (e.g., rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines)
