Job summary

Bethany Athletic Club’s Bkids childcare center is hiring Teachers and Float Teachers to nurture and care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. Responsibilities include leading activities, ensuring safety, and communicating with families using center software.

Candidates should have related degrees or credentials, and a minimum of one year of preschool-age teaching experience. OCC health and safety training is required before unsupervised access.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher in education-related field as listed.
  • At least one year of qualifying teacher experience in a certified childcare center.
  • Oregon-specific OCC training requirements may apply.
  • Completion of health and safety training before unsupervised access.

Responsibilities

  • Nurtures and cares for children (6 weeks–5 years).
  • Provide clean, safe, and fun childcare environment.
  • Utilize center software to update families.
  • Ensure safe play and follow security procedures.
  • Develop and implement activities for children.
  • Complete incident reports and notify parents/supervisors.
  • Perform attendance and light administrative tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and perform light janitorial duties.

Job description

Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids, seeks Teachers & Float Teachers to join the Bkids team! The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, nurturing, and caring for children from 6 weeks – 5 years old. This individual is expected to, among other things, welcome children each day, engage in crafts and activities, change diapers and ensure the safety of all children.Center Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:30pmPay: $18.00 - $22.50 / HourJob Type: Full-TimeMain Responsibilities:Nurtures and cares for children.Provides a clean, safe, and fun childcare environment.Utilize the center’s software to add regular updates to families of the children.Ensures safe playing conditions and follows established security procedures.Develops and implements activities for the children on an ongoing basis.Treats children if injured and completes incident reports as well as notifies parents, supervisors and club managers of any incidentsPerform general administrative tasks as needed such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, making phone calls, etc.Maintains a clean work environment by performing janitorial duties as required or assigned including but not limited to body fluid cleanup, sanitizing areas and other light housekeepingQualifications:Certified in CPR/First AidHighly motivatedExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent management and leadership skillsExcellent organizational skillsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in:Early childhood educationChild developmentElementary educationSpecial educationAssociate degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in:Early childhood educationChild developmentA one-year state or nationally recognized credential related to preschool-age care.Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in:Early childhood educationChild DevelopmentElementary educationSpecial educationAND at least one year of qualifying teacher experience* in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age childrenAt least two years of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age childrenDocumentation of attending at least Step 8.5 in the Oregon RegistryTRAINING:Head teachers must have completed OCC approved health and safety training (before having unsupervised access to children)Have completed a minimum of two hours of training on child abuse and neglect that is specific to Oregon law before they can have unsupervised access to children.If the center is certified to care for infants, the head teacher must have completed OCC approved safe sleep training.Language RequirementAll team members must have the basic ability to use computer/smart phone applications for training and company system purposes. Employees must also be able to comprehend written documents such as work orders, safety rules, instructions, policies, and procedures.
