Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Associate’s Degree (AS/AA) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • One-year state or nationally recognized credential related to infant and toddler care.
  • Completion of 20 credits (semester) or 30 credits (quarter) in Early Childhood Education/Child Development.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, nurture and care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, with emphasis on Infants/Toddlers.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing staff training for childcare/youth programs.
  • Coordinate weekly schedules and cover different shifts as needed.
  • Lead customer service contact for members in the childcare/youth areas; welcome parents and respond to inquiries.
  • Act as liaison between childcare/youth and other departments; share relevant information.
  • Develop and manage youth programs (free and paid) and coordinate birthday parties/events.
  • Monitor and analyze childcare/youth programs budgets; establish policies and procedures.
  • Order supplies for childcare/youth departments; escalate HR issues to Operations/HR.
  • Work days, evenings, and weekends as necessary; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids, seeks a Float Teacher to join the Bkids team! The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, nurturing, and caring for chidden from ages 6 weeks-5 years old. This position will primarily support the Infants/Toddlers, and help with closing the Preschool each daySchedule: M-Fri 12:30pm-5:30pmPay: $19-$19.50Shift: Part-timeMain Responsibilities:Trains new employees and provides ongoing training for all childcare/youth programs staffCoordinates the weekly schedule, covering different shifts if necessaryServes as the lead customer service contact for members in the childcare/youth programs areas, including: answering questions, welcoming parents and other member communicationsActs as a liaison between the childcare/youth programs areas and all other departments, communicating relevant information to the childcare staff as neededDevelops and manages new and existing youth programs (both free and fee based)Coordinates youth birthday parties and other events related to children/youthEstablishes, monitors and analyzes the childcare/youth programs budgetDevelops and implements policies and procedures for the childcare/youth programs departmentsOrders any supplies needed for the childcare/youth programs departmentsRefers all HR related issues including hiring, termination, performance issues, etc. to the Operations Manager and/or HR departmentMust be able to work days, evenings and weekends as necessaryOther duties as assignedQualifications:Certified in CPR/First AidHighly motivatedExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent management and leadership skillsExcellent organizational skillsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in:Early childhood educationChild developmentAssociate’s Degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in:Early childhood educationChild developmentA one-year state or nationally recognized credential related to infant and toddler care.Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in:Early childhood educationChild DevelopmentAND at least one year of qualifying teacher experience* in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of infant and/or toddlersAt least two years of qualifying teaching experience*, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of infant and/or toddlersTRAINING:Head teachers must have completed OCC approved health and safety training (before having unsupervised access to children)Have completed a minimum of two hours of training on child abuse and neglect that is specific to Oregon law before they can have unsupervised access to children.If the center is certified to care for infants, the head teacher must have completed OCC approved safe sleep training.
