Qualifications

  • One-year state or nationally recognized credential related to infant and toddler care
  • 20/30 college credits in Early childhood education and Child Development
  • Two years of qualifying teaching experience in a certified child care center, with at least one year as a teacher
  • Completion of OCC health and safety training before unsupervised access to children
  • Two hours of training on child abuse and neglect (Oregon law) before unsupervised access

Responsibilities

  • Trains new employees and provides ongoing training for all childcare staff
  • Coordinates the weekly schedule, covering different shifts as needed
  • Serves as the lead customer service contact for members in childcare/youth areas
  • Acts as a liaison between childcare/youth and other departments
  • Develops and manages new and existing youth programs (free and paid)
  • Coordinates youth birthday parties and related events
  • Establishes, monitors and analyzes the childcare/youth programs budget
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for childcare/youth departments
  • Orders supplies for childcare/youth departments
  • Refers HR issues to the Operations Manager/HR
  • Must work days, evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids, seeks a Float Teacher to join the Bkids team! The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, nurturing, and caring for chidden from ages 6 weeks-5 years old. This position will primarily support the Infants/Toddlers, and help with closing the Preschool each day

Schedule and Pay

Schedule: M-Fri 12:30pm-5:30pm

Pay: $19-$19.50

Shift: Part-time

Main Responsibilities
  • Trains new employees and provides ongoing training for all childcare/youth programs staff
  • Coordinates the weekly schedule, covering different shifts if necessary
  • Serves as the lead customer service contact for members in the childcare/youth programs areas, including: answering questions, welcoming parents and other member communications
  • Acts as a liaison between the childcare/youth programs areas and all other departments, communicating relevant information to the childcare staff as needed
  • Develops and manages new and existing youth programs (both free and fee based)
  • Coordinates youth birthday parties and other events related to children/youth
  • Establishes, monitors and analyzes the childcare/youth programs budget
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the childcare/youth programs departments
  • Orders any supplies needed for the childcare/youth programs departments
  • Refers all HR related issues including hiring, termination, performance issues, etc. to the Operations Manager and/or HR department
  • Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in:
    • Early childhood education
    • Child development
  • Associate’s Degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in:
    • Early childhood education
    • Child development
  • A one-year state or nationally recognized credential related to infant and toddler care.
  • Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in:
    • Early childhood education
    • Child Development
    AND at least one year of qualifying teacher experience* in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of infant and/or toddlers
  • At least two years of qualifying teaching experience*, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of infant and/or toddlers
TRAINING
  • Head teachers must have completed OCC approved health and safety training (before having unsupervised access to children)
  • Have completed a minimum of two hours of training on child abuse and neglect that is specific to Oregon law before they can have unsupervised access to children.
  • If the center is certified to care for infants, the head teacher must have completed OCC approved safe sleep training.
