Job summary

Community Action Head Start in Lincoln, Nebraska invites applicants for Infant/Toddler Associate Teacher roles to support children from 6 weeks to 3 years. You will partner with Lead Teachers to deliver a developmentally appropriate program, nurture relationships with families, and document children’s growth.

Qualifications

  • Formal education/training in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (CDA cert, enrolled in CDA program w/in 6 months, or an Associate’s degree).
  • Minimum of one year experience with young children and families in a day care or related setting.
  • Strong verbal and written proficiencies in English.
  • Sensitivity to low-income and diverse populations, and to individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to take initiative to continually improve service.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Ability to work independently and with interdisciplinary teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Commitment to building relationships with children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program for ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
  • Provide opportunities for children to develop self-images and confidence.
  • Foster positive relationships with all children in the classroom.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision and guidance at all times.
  • Observe, assess and document each child’s health, skills, behavior, growth and development.
  • Develop partnerships with parents/caregivers by regular information sharing and input.
  • In Lead Teacher's absence, manage the classroom.
  • Develop relations with parents through regular communication.
