Job summary

JCC Greater Boston is seeking a Child Development Specialist (CDS) for the Godine Early Learning Center in Newton, MA. This part-time, in-person role involves direct support to children, families, and staff, coordinating with outside agencies to promote each child’s development.

Requires a Master’s in ECE or related field and at least two years of relevant experience, with supervision and curriculum design expectations.

Qualifications

• Requires a Master’s Level degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Social Work or related field.
• Two or more years experience in a related field. Experience in early childhood teaching preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive developmental support to children and families through assessment, individualized planning, consultation, collaboration, referrals, staff support, and specialized services.
• Support children 0-3 with a focus on infant and toddler programs.
• Work directly with parents, teachers and staff to support children in the classroom.
• Assess all 3 year old students using the ESI-R standardized screening tool and review findings with parents and teachers.
• Identify strategies to help children with areas of special needs including developmental delays and motor, speech, transitions and behavior.
• Meet regularly with classroom teachers to discuss needs and strategies.
• Develop written individual educational plans with clear goals and strategies.
• Provide families and team members with supportive communications, tools, referrals and resources.
• Attend early intervention or school meetings to advocate for progress and goals.
