Job summary

JCC Greater Boston seeks a Child Development Specialist to provide direct support and consultation to children, parents, preschool staff and teachers at the Godine Early Learning Center in Newton, MA.

The CDS partners with outside agencies to help each child reach their potential emotionally, socially, and cognitively, while aligning with our educational framework and policies. The role focuses on infants/toddlers and requires collaboration with the teaching team.

Qualifications

• Requires a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Social Work or related field.
• Two or more years experience in a related field; early childhood teaching preferred.
• Experience With Early Intervention Program Required.

Responsibilities

• Support children 0-3 with a focus on infant and toddler programs.
• Work directly with parents, teachers and staff to support children in the classroom.
• Assess 3-year-old students using the ESI-R screening tool and review findings with caregivers and teachers.
• Identify strategies to support children with special needs (developmental delays, motor, speech, transitions, behavior).
• Meet regularly with classroom teachers to discuss children and implementation of developmentally appropriate practices.
• Develop written individual educational plans related to the ELC with goals and methods.
• Provide families and team members with supportive communications, tools, referrals and resources.
• Serve as a resource to parents, caregivers and staff on typical/atypical child development and referrals.
