Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a Staff Scientist to provide technical leadership and drive innovation within the Industrial Wood portfolio, focusing on kitchen cabinets, furniture, flooring, and specialty markets while supporting Building Products and related SW tech needs.

You will develop, optimize, and commercialize advanced coatings systems and serve as a key technical resource for industrial customers, mentoring teams and shaping the product roadmap with Marketing and Sales.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
12 years of coatings-specific industry experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of coatings manufacturing and application processes.
Project support through effective data analysis.
Ability to utilize standard software applications including Minitab, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Responsibilities

Lead technical development and maintenance of Industrial Wood portfolio activities.
Serve as a technical liaison to Marketing for technology road mapping and customer-facing supports.
Coordinate with internal Innovation teams to align new technologies.
Lead or support global technology development through commercialization projects.
Drive new and modified product introductions addressing customer needs.
Identify and lead strategic R&D initiatives independently.
Collaborate across labs and stakeholders to deliver market-ready solutions.
Influence customers and stakeholders through clear technical communication.
Standardize practices and reduce redundant development across labs.
Mentor and develop R&D team members.
