Akima is seeking a Security Specialist I to support subsidiary companies in Huntsville, AL. The Security Specialist will report to the Director of Security and will work with the security team to manage security clearances, personnel security records, and classified contract records, ensuring compliance with government regulations and the 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual.

Responsibilities

• Use the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) daily to manage personnel security clearances, initiate and review investigations, visit requests, reciprocity requests, verification of clearances, and other actions. Review/submittal of SF86s and fingerprints are required.
• Initiate MRPT requests for programs as needed. Review/submittal of SF85s and fingerprints are required.
• Complete and submit hard copy encrypted VARs/VALs, access forms, revalidation forms, CAC request (TASS/TARR) forms, SCI requests, and other customer-required forms.
• Assist in entering and maintaining information in the National Industrial Security System (NISS) for assigned companies.
• Enter and maintain information in the Automated Contractor Clearance System (ACCS) for contract requirements.
• Maintain shared information used by the security team.
• Perform other activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience as a federal contractor providing industrial and information security support for government clients.
• Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
