Job summary

Kanawha Scales & Systems in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Scale Service Technician to install, calibrate, and service industrial and commercial scales. You will ensure accurate measurements, perform maintenance, and troubleshoot to meet safety and quality standards.

Requirements include 2–3 years of experience, high school diploma, ISO 9001 and NIST Handbook 44 familiarity, and a valid driver’s license (CDL a plus).

Qualifications

• Experience installing, calibrating, and repairing scales.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and NIST Handbook 44.
• Proficiency with calibration and measurement equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Install industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales per manufacturer specs.
• Perform calibration and adjust settings to meet precision requirements.
• Maintain routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair quickly.
• Inspect scales for wear, damage, and function; address issues with load cells and displays.
• Maintain service and calibration records and reports.
• Communicate with clients regarding service requirements and estimates.
• Follow safety protocols around heavy equipment and electrical components.
• Ensure serviced scales meet quality and regulatory standards.
• Track tools, parts, and supplies; replenish as needed.
• Stay updated on scale technology and best practices.
