Job summary

Kanawha Scales & Systems is seeking a Scale Service Technician (CDL required) for our Birmingham, AL team. You will install, calibrate, and maintain a variety of industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales to ensure accurate measurements and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities include calibrations, repairs, documentation, and customer communication, with safety the top priority. Candidates should have 2–3 years of experience, a high school diploma, and a valid CDL/Class B or A

Qualifications

  • Experience in scale installation, calibration, and repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, NIST Handbook 44.
  • Proficiency with calibration and measurement equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license; Class B (or A) CDL Required.
  • AC/DC, MIG welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Scale Installation: Install and set up industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales per manufacturer specs.
  • Calibration: Perform calibration procedures and adjust settings to meet precision requirements.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair scales to minimize downtime.
  • Inspection: Inspect scales for wear, damage, and functionality; address issues with components.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed service and calibration records, certificates and reports.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients about service requirements and estimates.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure serviced scales meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Inventory Management: Track tools, parts, and equipment; replenish supplies as needed.
  • Training: Stay updated on best practices and scale technology advancements.
