Job summary

M.W. Watermark® in Michigan is hiring a Sand Blaster to prep surfaces for painting, sandblast and clean areas, and support the Paint WC Lead in industrial painting tasks. This role requires lifting, operating blast equipment, and maintaining safety practices in a noisy manufacturing setting.

Hands-on, detail-oriented candidates with at least 1 year in sandblasting and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will thrive. This is a full-time, hourly position based in our Holland, MI facility.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in an industrial sandblasting environment.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
• Must be organized and able to perform in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.

Responsibilities

• Work at the direction of the Paint WC Lead to complete the following duties.
• Prepare surfaces for paint by sandblasting, grinding, sanding, de-greasing, seam sealing, etc.
• Stage materials for paint both pre and post paint.
• Before the abrading action, the sandblaster protects specific areas of the work surface using masking film, tape, paper, etc.
• Responsible for cleanliness of work area.
• An important part of the sandblaster’s job is the maintenance of the sandblasting equipment, the booth and cleaning and changing nozzles.
• Taking initiative by recognizing the need and getting tasks done before management assigns them.
• Operation of forklifts, cranes, man-lifts.
• Employees are to spend the first 10 minutes of every day at the beginning, after lunch and before leaving to clean and sanitize their area.
• Promote and contribute to a continuous improvement culture.
• Other duties as assigned.
