Job summary

Metals USA is hiring a Safety Coordinator for the 2nd shift in the Waggaman, LA facility to monitor working conditions and enforce safety guidelines. The role requires OSH compliance, training delivery, and collaboration with HR and management to ensure a safe workplace.

The candidate should have an Associate's or Bachelor's in a safety-related field, OSHA 30-hour certification, and strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. Pre-employment drug testing is required.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in safety-related field preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour certification required or equivalent.
• Experience in a heavy industrial environment and safety supervision.
• Strong English reading/writing, knowledge of OSH guidelines.
• Must complete pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Ensure OSH compliance across the facility and enforce safety policies.
• Train employees in safety procedures and lead routine trainings.
• Inspect workspaces, equipment, and production processes for safety.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and propose corrective actions.
• Coordinate with HR to conduct new employee safety orientation.
• Oversee PPE ordering and participate in emergency drills.
• Maintain records and liaise with regulatory bodies as needed.
