Job summary

Amentum in Lafayette, IN is seeking an Industrial Safety Specialist to join our team on-site. This role provides EH&S leadership, supports employees, and ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

The specialist develops and maintains safety programs, conducts training, and advises on process improvements to minimize hazards. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field and 5 years of occupational safety experience in industrial settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related role, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience in a safety professional role.
• 5 years of experience in an occupational safety role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Experience using software to enter and interpret safety-related data.
• Experience effectively delivering training to multiple levels of personnel.
• Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• Must be willing to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, plans, and administers training programs and Job Hazard Analysis.
• Conducts comprehensive safety audits and inspections and recommends actions for OSHA compliance.
• Investigates injuries, conditions and incidents and documents findings for trend awareness.
• Maintains records and compiles required reports on job-related injury and illness experience.
• Plans and coordinates safety and health classes for technical and supervisory employees.
• Collaborates with client/site EHS personnel to address potential hazards or unsafe conditions.
