Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking an estimator to join its New Systems team in Dallas, developing detailed estimates for new construction, retrofit, and upgrade projects within industrial refrigeration and mechanical systems. You will review drawings, perform takeoffs, and coordinate with engineering, sales and operations to win bids.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in construction estimating and familiarity with design-build and plan & spec workflows, plus proficiency in Bluebeam and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of construction estimating experience.
• Experience in industrial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, mechanical contracting, HVAC, or MEP construction preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specs.
• Familiarity with cost analysis, vendor pricing, and subcontractor scoping.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for industrial refrigeration and mechanical projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFPs, and project requirements.
• Perform material takeoffs, labor calculations, and cost analysis.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Develop subcontractor scopes of work and bid leveling.
• Produce project budgets and bid proposals with cost breakdowns.
• Support design-build and plan & spec opportunities.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Sales throughout the estimating process.
• Lead internal bid strategy discussions and project handoff after award.
• Maintain estimating tools and current market pricing.
• Monitor material pricing and industry trends.

We are partnering with a growing, well-established mechanical and industrial refrigeration contractor seeking an Estimator to join its New Systems team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with experience across industrial refrigeration, mechanical construction, or MEP systems who wants exposure to both design-build and plan & spec projects. You will work closely with Engineering, Sales, Operations, General Contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to develop competitive estimates from initial concept through project award.

The Role

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for new construction, retrofit, and system upgrade projects. Responsibilities include:

• Prepare detailed estimates for industrial refrigeration and mechanical projects
• Review drawings, specifications, RFPs, and project requirements
• Complete material takeoffs, labor calculations, and detailed cost analysis
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Develop subcontractor scopes of work and perform bid leveling
• Produce project budgets, bid proposals, and detailed cost breakdowns
• Support both design-build and plan & spec opportunities
• Attend site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs as required
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Sales throughout the estimating process
• Lead internal bid strategy discussions and support project handoff following award
• Maintain estimating tools, historical cost data, and current market pricing
• Monitor material pricing, industry trends, and relevant code changes

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of construction estimating experience
• Experience within industrial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, mechanical contracting, HVAC, or MEP construction strongly preferred
• Understanding of mechanical systems and subcontractor scope coordination
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam; exposure to Procure and AutoCAD is beneficial
• Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree preferred
• Ability to manage multiple bids and changing deadlines
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and pre-bid meetings
