Job summary

State of Montana’s Department of Revenue seeks an advanced-level Industrial Appraiser I to value industrial and personal properties for tax assessments within the Property Assessment Division. The role emphasizes accuracy, data analysis, and collaboration with senior staff in a field office.

The position requires knowledge of appraisal methodologies, including the cost approach, and the ability to handle complex or unique property characteristics while providing clear written and verbal

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial, commercial, and personal property valuation.
• Understanding of cost approach, income, and comparable sales methods.
• Knowledge of land modeling, depreciation schedules, and cap rates.
• Ability to analyze complex property characteristics and explain findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Appraise simple industrial properties to support fair and equitable tax assessments under supervision.
• Utilize standard appraisal methodologies and data analysis to support valuation.
• Respond to inquiries from lower-level appraisers and assist in departmental appraisal functions.
