Job summary

Montana Department of Revenue is seeking a Property Appraiser 1 to perform residential property reviews, data research, and field appraisals for final valuations. You will analyze land use, sales comparisons, and property characteristics while supporting program operations and responding to taxpayer inquiries.

The role requires Montana certification in residential property appraisal (IAAO 101) and USPAP training, with telework eligibility limited and full-time on-site duties in Bozeman, MT.

Qualifications

• Requires Montana certification in residential property appraisal (IAAO 101) within the first year.
• USPAP training required; ARM 42.18.206-208 compliance.
• Preferred experience in property tax appraisal, assessment, auditing, real estate, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct residential property reviews and field appraisals to determine final valuations.
• Review tax records, land use, improvements, and valuation documents.
• Perform comparable sales analysis to identify valuation factors.
• Document professional assumptions and limiting conditions.
• Assist with data research, site inspections, and preparation of maps/sketches used in appraisals.
