Job summary

Clayco seeks a Project Development Manager to lead the development and continuous improvement of project delivery processes within its Industrial Business Unit. You will collaborate with executives, engineers and vendors to shape execution models, share best practices, and drive client value across national projects.

You will manage a team of professionals, communicate strategy and goals, and ensure alignment with the project execution plan while adapting to a fast-paced, complex environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, process, chemical, civil/structural, or electrical). MBA preferred but not required.
• 15+ years in engineering or construction leadership roles.
• 7+ years managing an engineering/design team of 20+ members.
• 5+ years engineering design/management experience in the industrial market.
• Strong negotiation, presentation and persuasion skills.
• Able to communicate ideas, win approvals, and resolve with diverse audiences.
• Experience managing projects and progressing ideas to execution in a complex environment.
• Strong analytical abilities with data interpretation for recommendations.
• Comfortable with change and ambiguity; collaborative and a systems thinker.
• Self-motivated, results oriented, and able to coach future leaders.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of processes, procedures and tools for efficient execution of Project Development operations.
• Work with the VP – Project Development, Project Executives and Business Unit Leaders on strategy and shaping the Project Development Group organization to provide Best-In-Class execution models.
• Lead the consolidation and communication of best practices and lessons learned from project development execution.
• Provide execution expertise, establish team goals, and align with project objectives through effective communication.
• Develop and execute a communication and training plan ensuring awareness of strategy, goals, responsibilities, and policies.
• Work with the Industrial team to engage clients and align execution strategy with priorities.
• Engage with third party engineers, vendors, and OEMs to integrate their processes and best practices.
• Support project teams as they develop and maintain the Division of Responsibilities (DOR).
• Advise on maintaining efficient execution in a dynamic environment, documenting design assumptions internally and with the client.
• Coordinate resource needs in a matrix environment and track progress.
• Conduct monthly internal project performance reviews.
• Stay flexible to react to issues and short-fused client RFPs while maintaining focus on operations.
• Manage multiple personalities and communicate clearly with documentation.
• Oversee progress against execution plans and take corrective actions when needed.
• Develop and champion contract and scope change management practices and communicate impacts.
• Oversee the implementation of contract and scope change management as required.
