Senior Project Development Leader – Industrial

Job summary

Clayco is a full-service real estate development, design-build and construction firm delivering nationwide projects on time and on budget. The Project Development Manager will lead process development and continuous improvement within our Industrial Business Unit, coordinating with engineers, estimators and construction experts to create best-in-class delivery.

You will shape strategy with senior leaders, drive change management, communicate clearly, manage multiple projects and travel as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, process, chemical, civil/structural, or electrical) with MBA preferred but not required.
• 15+ years' experience in increasingly challenging positions, preferably in an engineering or construction organization.
• 7+ years’ experience in managing an engineering and design team of at least 20 or more.
• 5+ years’ experience performing engineering-related design or management within the industrial market.
• Strong negotiation, presentation and persuasion skills.
• Experienced in communicating ideas, winning approval, and reaching resolutions with a variety of audiences.
• Experience with management of projects and progression of ideas to execution in a complex environment.
• Strong analytical ability and ability to interpret data and make recommendations.
• Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable, collaborative and a systems thinker.
• Must be self-motivated, results oriented and must coach future leaders.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of processes, procedures and tools for efficient and consistent execution of Project Development operations.
• Work with senior leaders on strategy and shaping the Project Development Group to provide Best-In-Class execution models.
• Lead consolidation and communication of best practices and lessons learned from project development execution.
• Provide execution expertise and align team goals with project objectives.
• Develop and execute a communication and training plan for strategy and policies.
• Engage with clients and internal teams to understand priorities and ensure alignment.
• Coordinate with third-party engineers, vendors, and OEMs to integrate best practices.
• Support the project teams in defining and maintaining the Division of Responsibilities (DOR).
• Guide the team on maintaining efficient execution in a dynamic environment and documenting design assumptions.
• Communicate effectively with clients at all levels and seek additional work.
