Core Responsibilities- Execute structural and pipe welding tasks on stainless steel, carbon steel, and other materials using project-specific procedures.
- Help ensure project accuracy by interpreting blueprints, piping isometrics, P&IDs, structural drawings, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Prepare, fit, align, and tack components to meet specific joint details and dimensions.
- Utilize various welding methods such as SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and GMAW (MIG) as required by the assignment.
- Prepare base materials by cutting, beveling, and grinding to maintain precise joint geometry and root openings.
- Improve overall project quality by inspecting welds for defects and performing necessary repairs according to established standards.
- Collaborate with Ironworkers, Pipe Fitters, Millwrights, and other mechanical teams to facilitate efficient and safe installation workflows.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering to OSHA guidelines and site-specific protocols while working in confined or elevated spaces.
- Maintain a safe and functional workspace by keeping tools, leads, hoses, and welding equipment in good order.
- Complete additional tasks as directed by management.
Physical Expectations- Capable of balancing, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds while working in tight or high-altitude areas.
- Demonstrate manual dexterity to safely operate material-handling, grinding, cutting, and welding tools.
- Perform strenuous manual labor including kneeling, reaching, crouching, and bending.
- Maintain high levels of alertness and mobility while working in varied industrial jobsite conditions.
Required Qualifications- At least 3 years of professional experience in industrial pipe or structural welding.
- Successfully pass our internal welding qualification tests, which may include 6G pipe or various structural plate certifications.
- Ensure all welds meet AWS, ASME Section IX, or client-specific standards through visual, bend, or radiographic testing.
- Proficiency in using FCAW, GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW equipment for diverse welding applications.
- Ability to translate technical drawings, WPS documents, and welding symbols into precise field execution.
- Strong understanding of hot-work safety, metallurgy, and proper fit-up techniques; a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Position Scope- Welding activities must remain within the scope of your current certifications and assigned project procedures.
- Work independently on welding tasks following the successful completion of required qualification testing.
- This role does not involve the supervision of other staff unless explicitly authorized by management.
- Execute necessary joint preparation, fit-up, and modifications during shutdowns or system upgrades.
- Ensure project success by coordinating with quality inspectors and project managers to maintain alignment with documentation requirements.
- Adhere strictly to project-specific quality control and WPS documentation standards.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Engage in physically demanding tasks including heavy material handling and climbing.
- Regularly manage and organize welding leads, hoses, and various tools.
- Maintain comfort working in diverse environments, including outdoor sites, confined spaces, and active industrial plants.
Structural & Pipe Welding Responsibilities- Deliver code-compliant pipe welds, including 6G and small-bore applications, to ensure system integrity.
- Execute structural fillet and groove welds in various positions to support robust construction.
- Follow WPS requirements regarding filler metal, shielding gas, and temperature controls to ensure weld consistency.
- Verify joint preparation and cleanliness with fabricators to prevent weld defects.
- Maintain accurate documentation for weld maps and inspection hold points to support project turnover.
- Apply proper welding techniques to minimize distortion and achieve an optimal bead profile.
- Correct any weld deficiencies promptly by coordinating with quality personnel.
- Treat every weld as a critical component, ensuring it meets all testing and visual examination standards.
- Adapt your welding approach between structural and pipe assignments based on project demands and your qualifications.
