Job summary

Ernest-Spencer, Inc. seeks an Industrial Painter (Powder) for the 2nd shift in Topeka, Kansas. You will follow shop orders, prepare surfaces, mix colors, and spray parts to achieve uniform coatings with proper cure.

The role requires inspecting parts for quality and maintaining a clean, safe paint area. Health insurance, PTO and 401k benefits are provided with full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Reads and follows shop orders and paint schedules as directed by supervision.
• Inspects surfaces and prepares them for painting to ensure quality finish.
• Selects premixed paints or mixes pigments, oils, thinners to match colors.
• Sprays components uniformly with correct paint thickness and monitors mill thickness.
• Tests painted parts to verify proper cure and adhesion.
• Inspects parts for cosmetic and dimensional quality during processing.
• Counts parts for orders and during loading/unloading paint line.
• Understands basic chemical safety and maintenance related to wash systems.
• Cleans and maintains paint area and equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Apply powder coating to work pieces according to process parameters.
• Monitor paint line for runs, sags, or unpainted areas and address promptly.
• Inspect finished parts for quality and consistency before unloading.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of booth, hoses, heads, and grid.
• Assist with material handling and loading/unloading parts and pallets.

Industrial PAINTER (Powder) in Topeka for 2nd Shift

Skills/Qualifications:

• Reads and follows shop order and paint schedule and/or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
• Inspects surfaces to prepare for painting.
• Selects premixed paints or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
• Sprays work pieces uniformly with the proper amount of paint. (Mil thickness) Inspects mill thickness on parts on a regular basis. Inspects painted parts for runs, sags, and unpainted areas and cure as parts are being unloaded off of the paint line.
• Test painted parts regularly to verify paint cure.
• Inspects all individual work piecesfor quality in regard to form and cosmetics.
• Count parts for completing orders and for identification when loading and unloading paint line and loading and unloading pallets.
• Acquires appropriate knowledge of chemicals, chemical use and chemical maintenance as related to wash system.
• Clean-up of paint area which may include but is not limited to cleaning paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from disks, cones, spray heads, hoses and the eye wash station and other general housekeeping of the paint area.
