Job summary

Oertel Metal Works in Davenport, IA is seeking an Industrial Painter to join the finishing team. You will prepare surfaces, mix and apply coatings, perform touch-ups, and package finished parts for shipment, following customer specs and our quality standards.

This full-time overnight role runs Monday through Friday from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am. Wage ranges $20.00–$22.00 per hour, with a third-shift differential.

Qualifications

• Experience with liquid coatings.
• Experience preparing surfaces through cleaning, masking, sanding or grinding.
• Ability to accurately mix and apply paints and coatings.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work with hand tools/spray equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces and apply coatings to meet specs.
• Mix paints/ coatings and conduct touch-ups as needed.
• Mask parts, grind/sand as required, and maintain clean work area.
• Package finished parts for shipment and assist in staging materials.

Oertel Metal Works is currently seeking an Industrial Painter based out of Davenport, Iowa.

The Painter is an important part of our finishing team, preparing and painting fabricated metal products to meet customer specifications and Oertel’s quality standards. This position works throughout the finishing process, including preparing surfaces, mixing and applying coatings, completing touch-ups, and packaging finished parts for shipment.

Day-to-day work may include grinding, sanding, cleaning and masking parts; mixing paints, hardeners and thinners; applying liquid coatings using industrial spray equipment; cleaning and maintaining painting equipment; moving and staging materials; and helping keep the work area clean, organized and safe.

• Previous experience with liquid coatings
• Experience preparing surfaces through cleaning, masking, sanding or grinding
• Ability to accurately mix and apply paints and coatings
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
• Ability to follow customer specifications, work instructions and established processes
• Comfortable working with hand tools, pneumatic equipment, industrial spray guns and chemical products
• Ability to work independently while also being a strong team member
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the position
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to become fork truck certified

This is a full-time, overnight position working Monday through Friday from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am . Pay ranges from $20.00-$22.00/hour, depending on experience . There will be an additional "per hour" 3rd Shift, Shift Differential paid on top of the base hourly rate.
