Job summary

Michels Power, Inc. seeks an Electrical Estimator – Industrial & Medium Voltage to evaluate bid specifications and drawings and develop competitive estimates for heavy industrial electrical and MV systems. The role collaborates with Project Management and Procurement to ensure bids are thorough and accurate.

The position requires 3–5 years in estimating, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and a valid driver’s license. It involves office work with occasional site visits and up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 3–5 years of related experience in estimating, construction, or electrical infrastructure.
• Experience with negotiation and subcontractor engagement.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Review bid specifications and drawings to ensure full scope coverage for projects from $500K to $10M.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for industrial electrical and medium-voltage systems.
• Partner with Procurement to secure vendor and supplier pricing.
• Identify, manage, and maintain relationships with subcontractors for complete bid coverage.
• Develop project schedules and cost forecasts to support estimating accuracy.
• Track and analyze budget-to-actual comparisons throughout the bid lifecycle.
• Follow up on bids, budgets, and award status with Project Management.
