Position Overview
The primary function of this position is to provide direction and leadership to the Industrial Minerals manufacturing and maintenance departments, ensuring customer demands are met or exceeded through cost-effective and operationally sound manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Ensure personal safety and uphold safety and quality standards, following CRH Life Saving Rules.
- Promote a safe, productive, and sustainable safety culture.
- Implement and lead continuous improvement initiatives, addressing deficiencies and recommending process enhancements.
- Develop technical and leadership skills of direct reports and recommend new job opportunities as appropriate.
- Manage staffing requirements and act as the hiring manager for personnel needs.
- Establish development plans, provide training, and create growth opportunities for team members.
- Foster a positive company culture with high morale and performance through motivation and goal setting.
- Utilize delegation, scheduling, and time management to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Review KPIs to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee maintenance and production activities, driving continuous improvement and resource optimization.
- Analyze expenditures and operational reports to identify profit and performance opportunities.
- Collaborate with GM and management to develop and implement policies and procedures.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and CAPEX processes.
- Address employee issues promptly and support effective communication across teams.
- Provide technical support on processing, maintenance, and engineering issues.
- Ensure alignment between maintenance and operations teams.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to foster a positive work environment.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, capable of working under tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated with initiative and responsibility.
- Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and delegate effectively.
- Confident decision-maker, proactive, and innovative thinker.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with CAPEX purchasing, installation, and payback tracking.
- Experience managing large projects and evaluating CAPEX investments.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, lift heavy objects, and work in challenging environments.
- Proficiency with PC software including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- At least 3 years of project management experience.
- Knowledge of MSHA regulations and inspection processes.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent plant experience.
Shift
Primarily day shift, Monday through Friday, with rotational weekend on-call responsibilities.
