Job summary

Austin Industrial in Florence, SC is seeking a Millwright Mechanic to maintain, repair, and inspect industrial machinery, including boilers, compressors, and power generators. This role requires reading blueprints, performing precision alignments, and documenting maintenance activities.

You will work with hand and power tools, follow LOTO safety, and may supervise capital projects. The company offers ESOP and comprehensive benefits; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• Minimum relevant industrial mechanical or millwright experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documents.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, dismantle, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, compressors, mixers, and rotating equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical failures using inspection tools and troubleshooting techniques.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and work orders.
• Perform precision alignments including laser and dial indicator alignment.
• Conduct equipment inspections and identify reliability improvements.
• Replace bearings, seals, belts, chains, couplings, and mechanical components.
• Perform rigging and equipment movement using hoists, cranes, and lifting devices.
• Assist with equipment installations, shutdowns, and capital improvement projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and work records.
• Follow all plant safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned work areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
