Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, seeks a Painter Technician to prepare parts and assemblies for painting, mix primer and topcoat, and apply epoxy paint to meet quality and safety standards. The role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure process improvements and proper NCR handling.

The position requires handling paint systems, performing inspections of wet and dry film thickness, and maintaining equipment while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalency preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
• Previous painting experience, 6 months – 5 years, mixing and applying an automotive grade, three-part epoxy paint on small and large assemblies required.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, work instructions, UL Standard, written directions.
• Ability to use the computer and enter information in database.
• Knowledge of measurement tools, tape measures.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of safe work practices.
• Knowledge of paint waste disposal and clean up guidelines.
• Knowledge of paint storage guidelines
• Forklift experience moving large components.
• Ability to disassemble and reassemble paint guns.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues with paint gun, paint pump and paint booth systems.
• Knowledge of general painting practices.
• Attention to detail.
• Communicate and discuss issues with peers and leaders.
• Knowledge of quality inspection.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
• Must comply with legal regulations.
• Understand equipment, standards, and manufacturing practices in Generator enclosure and power switchgear areas.
• Identify and follow proper NCR processes for non-conforming material.
