Job summary

PowerSecure, Inc. is seeking a Painter Technician to prepare parts, mix primers and topcoats, and apply automotive epoxy finishes to meet quality and safety standards for shipping.

The role requires knowledge of safe work practices, ability to troubleshoot paint systems, and coordination with engineering and manufacturing to ensure quality. This on-site position supports a dynamic power equipment environment.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent; combination of education and work experience considered.
  • 6 months–5 years painting experience with automotive epoxy paint on assemblies.
  • English reading and communication ability.
  • Able to read and interpret documents and work instructions.
  • Proficient with computers for data entry.
  • Knowledge of measurement tools and tape measures.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
  • Follow paint waste disposal and cleanup guidelines.
  • Follow paint storage guidelines.
  • Operate forklift to move large components.
  • Disassemble/reassemble paint guns for maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot paint gun, paint pump and booth systems.
  • Perform general painting practices with attention to detail.
  • Communicate with peers and leaders about issues.
  • Support quality inspections and NCR tracking.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and serviced on schedule.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Description

Job Summary: The Painter Technician is responsible for preparing and painting components and parts to quality and safety standards to prepare for shipping.

Minimum Qualifications
  • HS diploma or equivalency preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Previous painting experience, 6 months – 5 years, mixing and applying an automotive grade, three-part epoxy paint on small and large assemblies required.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, work instructions, UL Standard, written directions.
  • Ability to use the computer and enter information in database.
  • Knowledge of measurement tools, tape measures.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Must comply with legal regulations.
  • This position must be able to understand the equipment, the standards, and general manufacturing practices in the Generator enclosure and power switchgear product areas.
  • Identify and follow proper procedure for all non-conforming material. Assist in ensuring all non-conforming reports (NCR) are tracked and recorded.
  • Communication and cooperation with the engineering, manufacturing, and quality department to ensure quality compliance and continual product improvement.
  • The painter’s main responsibility is to prepare parts and /or assemblies for painting.
  • Prepare/mix paint (primer and topcoat) and apply paint to parts and assemblies to company quality and safety standards.
  • Inspect wet and dry paint mill thickness to ensure it meets company expectations for desired paint life.
  • Monitor material levels and report any shortages/issues to his/her supervisor.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained, cleaned, and serviced on regular schedules.
  • Communicate with paint vendor and supervisor to assist with process improvements.
  • They will communicate with the production supervisor with concerns of material shortages and equipment needs.
Level 1 performance expectations
  • Trained how to load and unload the Powder Coat Line.
  • Demonstrates competency in reading applicable documents and a fine attention to detail.
  • Completes work in a timely fashion.
  • Knowledgeable about all required department procedures.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and manipulate heavy test equipment and cables.
  • Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers and PLC’s, protective relays, controllers, and other such equipment with small fine buttons and operators.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be fully engaged in the Powder Coat/Paint environment.
  • Required to stand and walk on manufacturing floor throughout the day.
  • The work environment associated with this role can take place either indoors or outdoors depending on the nature of the project. Tolerance for various weather elements may be necessary. This is an active manufacturing setting; at times it will be noisy, and equipment will be moving.
