Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Designer / Project Specialist in Robbins, IL to support custom industrial equipment, pump systems, rotating equipment, and repair projects. You will blend mechanical design with project coordination, production support, and hands‑on troubleshooting while managing customer and internal jobs from release through completion.

This role requires collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and shop personnel; a four‑year engineering degree is not

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or engineered‑equipment environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience drafting or redlining drawings using SolidWorks, CAD, or similar software.
• Experience coordinating complex projects and schedules.
• Comfort working on shop floor and in office.
• Hands‑on exposure to machining, welding, fabrication, or industrial repair operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate projects and work orders from release through production and completion.
• Review and modify drawings to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.
• Create or update mechanical drawings using SolidWorks, CAD, or similar software.
• Support projects involving pumps, rotating equipment, fabricated components, and assemblies.
• Monitor priorities, schedules, material requirements, and project status.
• Identify bottlenecks and resolve mechanical, production, or scheduling issues.
• Work with shop personnel during staging, fabrication, inspection, and execution.
• Coordinate across Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and production teams.
• Translate field measurements into drawing revisions and updated documentation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date project documentation.
