Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Peoria, IL, to design, develop and revise machine systems and components. You will create detailed 3D CAD designs, generate assemblies, and prepare clear technical documentation for manufacturing, service, and quality teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration with suppliers and internal groups, design reviews, and applying GD&T to ensure manufacturability. This is a fully onsite contract position in Peoria, IL.

Qualifications

• Formal engineering degree with strong fundamentals in mechanical design, dynamics, and controls.
• Proficiency in engineering principles such as structural mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and electronics.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine systems and components to meet performance, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Create detailed drawings and assemblies using 3D CAD software and ensure manufacturability.
• Prepare technical documentation, service notes, and operation manuals.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve design issues during development.
• Lead design reviews and propose improvements to reduce lead times and costs.
• Apply GD&T and ensure compliance with ISO/SAE standards.
• Coordinate design activities and manage timelines for new product development.
