Skilled Trades Partners is seeking an experienced Working Shop Foreman / Industrial Mechanic for a full-time opportunity in Waterbury, CT. This hands-on leadership role oversees the repair shop and leads mechanics while you troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild rotating equipment.

You’ll disassemble and inspect motors, pumps, gearboxes; perform precision fits; operate a lathe; supervise daily workflow; ensure quality and safety standards while mentoring the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial mechanical experience is preferred.
• Hands-on experience repairing electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, or rotating equipment.
• Experience leading or mentoring mechanics/technicians.

Responsibilities

Working Shop Foreman – Industrial Mechanic

Waterbury, CT
$45–$50/hr DOE | Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity

Skilled Trades Partners is seeking an experienced Working Shop Foreman / Industrial Mechanic for a full-time opportunity with an established, family-owned industrial service company in Waterbury, CT.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who knows how to troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild industrial rotating equipment while helping oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy repair shop. This is not a desk-only foreman role — we’re looking for someone who can lead by example and work alongside the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and work alongside shop mechanics and technicians
• Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and rebuild industrial electric motors
• Repair pumps, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures
• Perform precision fits, alignments, and equipment repairs
• Operate manual machining equipment, including a lathe
• Assist with balancing, testing, and complex troubleshooting
• Help coordinate shop workflow and maintain high standards for quality and safety

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of industrial mechanical, motor repair, millwright, or similar experience preferred
• Strong hands-on experience repairing electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, or rotating equipment
• Manual lathe experience required
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Experience leading or mentoring other mechanics/technicians
• Comfortable working with heavy industrial equipment
• Welding, fabrication, machining, or motor rewinding experience is a plus
• No electrical license required
