Job summary

Dow Jones is hiring an Industrial Mechanic/Machinist for the White Oak, Maryland Print Plant. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment with emphasis on safety and reliability.

You will work on disassembly, calibration, and part fabrication, following blueprints and manuals, and collaborate with foreman and operators to schedule maintenance and improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1–3 years in industrial/mechanical roles preferred.
• Fundamental knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems incl. welding.
• Strong math, organizational and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.
• Diagnose malfunctions by testing with voltmeters and other devices; verify repairs on reassembled equipment.
• Study blueprints and manuals to ensure proper installation and operation; fabricate parts as needed.
• Record parts used and maintenance work; request necessary replacements.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment per safety rules.
• Coordinate with foreman and operators; adjust maintenance priorities as required.
• Rotate shifts; participate in weekend work as needed.
