Job summary

Johnson Controls in Glendale, Kentucky seeks an Industrial Maintenance & Utility Operator to support plant production. This hybrid role blends hands-on maintenance with monitoring and operation of boilers, chillers, HVAC, and related utility systems.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, interpret P&IDs, follow safety protocols, and participate in on-call rotations. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in chemical/industrial settings are preferred.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance or utility operations in manufacturing.
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with continuous process operations.
Familiarity with boilers, chillers, HVAC, and related utilities.
Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
Comfort working outdoors and around hazardous materials.
Knowledge of lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and chemical handling and disposal.
On-call rotation participation required.
Physically capable of ladder work, confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and events.
Proficiency with hand and power tools and man lifts.
Background checks and drug screening may be required.
Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Maintain preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, valves, tanks, piping, and rotating equipment.
Monitor and operate plant utility systems: boilers, chillers, HVAC, scrubbers, water treatment.
Read and interpret P&IDs and technical manuals; follow safety/environmental protocols.
Provide direction and training to junior O&M specialists; requisition supplies.
Assist start-up/shutdown and emergency responses for utility systems.
