Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Maintenance & Utility Operator to support plant manufacturing in a hybrid role.

The job blends hands-on maintenance with critical utility system operation, emphasizing safe and efficient equipment and facility performance. Qualified candidates have at least 3 years in industrial maintenance or utilities, strong mechanical skills, and experience with boilers, chillers, HVAC, and SCADA/DCS systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years in industrial maintenance or utility operations, preferably in chemical/industrial manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with continuous process operations.
• Familiarity with boilers, chillers, HVAC, dust collectors, scrubbers, etc.
• Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Comfortable working outdoors and around hazardous materials.
• Knowledge of safety procedures including lockout/tagout and confined space entry.
• Must pass background check and drug test and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process equipment, pumps, valves, tanks, piping, and rotating machinery.
• Plan materials for service, repair, and preventive maintenance work.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; support installation and commissioning of new equipment and lines.
• Maintain CMMS records and follow safety and environmental protocols.
• Provide guidance to less experienced O&M specialists and requisition supplies.
• Monitor and operate plant utility systems including boilers, chillers, HVAC, and scrubbers; log readings and respond to alarms.
