Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is hiring an Industrial Maintenance & Utility Operator for a hybrid role blending hands-on equipment maintenance with utility system monitoring.

The position supports plant production, with duties spanning preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and system start/stop procedures. The role requires reading P&IDs and technical manuals, operating CMMS, and adhering to lockout/tagout and other safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical cert or associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years in industrial maintenance or utility operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with continuous process operations.
• Familiarity with boilers, chillers, HVAC, dust collectors, scrubbers, etc.
• Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and manuals; safety training required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, valves, tanks, piping, and rotating equipment.
• Plan materials for service, repair, and PM work; troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and lines; maintain CMMS records.
• Monitor and operate plant utility systems: boilers, chillers, HVAC, and scrubbers.
• Respond to alarms; assist with startup/shutdown and emergency procedures.
• Provide guidance to less experienced O&M specialists; may train others.
