Job summary

City of Port Huron Water Filtration Plant seeks a skilled technician to perform semi-skilled and skilled repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment. Aptitude testing in mechanical/machining and welding may be required.

Responsibilities include repairs to pumps, motors, valves and related components, plus routine electrical work. Candidate must have a high school diploma, hands-on mechanical experience, and valid Michigan CDL with Tanker endorsement for the WWTP.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reasonable mechanical repair and maintenance experience.
• Valid Michigan CDL (Group A/Air for WFP) and Tanker endorsement for WWTP.
• Welding training and certification preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain or rebuild mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Operate drilling, welding and machining tools.
• Disassemble/repair pumps, valves, motors and related components.
• Perform routine electrical repairs and alignments.
• Order parts and materials as needed.
• Maintain records and reports.
