Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Blacksburg, VA to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in an industrial setting. You will perform preventive maintenance, support equipment setup/teardown, document work, and uphold safety and 5S standards.

The role requires ability to read blueprints, perform electrical troubleshooting including PLCs, and collaborate with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent
• Prior industrial or mechanical maintenance experience preferred
• Basic knowledge and safe use of hand and power tools
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
• Strong attention to detail and safety
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics for maintenance and repair
• Basic electrical troubleshooting including PLCs and three-phase systems
• Capability to perform preventive maintenance tasks
• Reliable at documenting maintenance activities in tracking systems

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on production and facility equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks including lubrication, filter changes, belt replacements, and basic adjustments
• Support setup and teardown of production equipment during line changes to minimize downtime
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment issues in tracking systems
• Maintain a clean, organized maintenance area and adhere to 5S standards and housekeeping
• Follow all safety procedures and use proper PPE
• Assist with facility repairs such as lighting, plumbing, and general maintenance
• Participate in maintenance training and skill development programs
• Support emergency maintenance needs and respond to breakdowns
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical docs for troubleshooting
• Use hand and power tools safely for maintenance and installation
• Perform electrical troubleshooting including PLC work and three-phase systems
• Readiness to grow into advanced maintenance responsibilities
