Job summary

Virginia Linen Service, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to repair, maintain, troubleshoot and install equipment in an automated processing facility.

The role supports a family-owned organization with a long growth history since 1934 and requires hands-on work across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, work with engineering teams, and uphold safety protocols while supporting boiler systems and wastewater pretreatment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English.
• High school diploma/GED.
• General knowledge and skills representing a good mechanical background.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
• Must have the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to stand for up to 7 hours of an 8-hour shift.
• Maintenance knowledge - formal or informal training to perform duties.
• Any combination of general maintenance, building maintenance, equipment maintenance, automotive maintenance, construction, plumbing, electrical, and military experience.
• Experience with formalized safety programs preferred, such as Lock Out/Tag Out, confined space, OSHA awareness, Technical School Courses or Ladder Safety.
• Minimum of at least 2 years of successful maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform well-defined preventative maintenance programs.
• Communicate and work with all levels of management and support existing engineering teams.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
• Troubleshoot sources of equipment problems by observing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Use precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Assist other maintenance personnel with emergency and non-emergency repairs.
• Inspect motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters and perform maintenance actions per procedures.
• Perform welding activities including MIG, TIG, ARC, cutting, and brazing.
• Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) and control systems.
• Perform boiler chemical testing and daily/weekly safety checks on boilers.
• Perform wastewater pretreatment system testing.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts.
• Inspect motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters and perform maintenance actions per records.
