Job summary

Gerdau in Duluth, MN is seeking a maintenance technician to keep plant equipment and machinery in top condition. You will diagnose, repair, and assemble components, performing routine maintenance, welding, and equipment optimization.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in heavy industrial maintenance, strong knowledge of motors, gearboxes, lubrication, welding, NFPA 70E, and related tools. This role requires teamwork, safety adherence, and the ability to work shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Reads drawings, sketches and diagrams to perform maintenance tasks.
• Performs preventive maintenance and routine diagnostics.
• Uses welding and cutting tools for repairs and fabrication.
• Interprets shop mathematics, drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Install, adjust, repair, and perform maintenance on plant equipment.
• Assemble machinery frames and structural components per blueprints.
• Weld, cut, and fabricate parts as needed.
• Troubleshoot pumps, gear boxes, motors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Inspect equipment for preventative maintenance and safety compliance.
• Maintain records of work performed and material usage.
