Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Bolingbrook, IL is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to maintain reliability and safety of our manufacturing equipment. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, support preventive maintenance, and help minimize downtime while developing your technical skills.

This role requires two years of industrial maintenance experience, ability to read blueprints, use hand and power tools, and work OT when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of industrial maintenance experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and maintenance docs.
• Experience using hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and basic machine shop equipment.
• Basic welding and metal fabrication skills.
• Capacity to work overtime and support non-standard hours.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and material handling equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance to maximize uptime and efficiency.
• Inspect equipment to identify failures and safety hazards.
• Read blueprints and schematics to support repairs and installations.
• Fabricate, weld, assemble, or modify components as needed.
• Document work in CMMS and manage parts requests.
• Mentor Maintenance Technician I team members.
• Uphold safety, quality, and continuous improvement standards.
