The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for supporting production and facility operations through the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of electro-mechanical equipment. This role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnoses equipment issues, assists with equipment installations and modifications, and ensures machinery operates safely and efficiently. The technician will also maintain spare parts inventory, complete maintenance documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electro-mechanical equipment and automated production systems.
- Perform equipment setup, configuration changes, and operational adjustments to support production requirements.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical components to ensure optimal machine performance and reliability.
- Execute preventive maintenance activities on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, sensors, switches, photoelectric devices, motors, and related field equipment.
- Perform electrical testing and apply knowledge of voltage, current, resistance, and motor control principles.
- Troubleshoot PLC input/output systems and assist in correcting equipment control issues.
- Install, modify, and relocate equipment, machinery, electrical circuits, and control systems as required.
- Maintain and repair pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, regulators, and associated components.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document completed work and maintenance activities.
- Monitor spare parts usage and support inventory control by submitting replacement part requests.
- Collaborate with quality and operations teams to optimize equipment performance and process efficiency.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, reliability, and productivity.
- Provide guidance and training to junior technicians and maintenance personnel when needed.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, or automated equipment environment.
- Experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical equipment and production machinery.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems.
- Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and workplace safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work overtime, off-shift hours, on-call assignments, and emergency maintenance situations as needed.
Preferred
- Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation systems.
- Knowledge of motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and electrical safety practices.
- Fabrication, welding, machining, or metalworking experience.
- Previous experience training, mentoring, or leading junior maintenance technicians.
