Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Newberry, South Carolina, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of plant equipment and facility systems.

This role aims to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime through preventative maintenance and diagnostics across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to troubleshoot AC and DC electrical systems.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Basic shop math skills including multiplication, division, fractions, and decimal conversions.
• Ability to safely use maintenance tools, test equipment, and material handling equipment.
• Ability to obtain forklift and crane certifications through company-provided training programs.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift, move, and work with equipment and materials as required.
• Ability to wear required PPE and work in both indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
• Diagnose, test, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble production equipment and components.
• Troubleshoot and service pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Repair or fabricate parts, fixtures, and components using welding, cutting, brazing, and related fabrication methods.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and circuits including 12–48-volt DC and 120–460-volt AC systems.
• Perform both major and general repairs on production and facility equipment.
• Accurately document labor, materials, and parts used for maintenance and repair activities.
• Safely operate lift equipment including cranes, booms, man lifts, and cherry pickers.
• Identify and report abnormal operating conditions, equipment concerns, and safety hazards to leadership.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
