Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of plant equipment and facility systems at our Newberry facility in South Carolina.

The role focuses on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure equipment reliability, safe operations, and minimal downtime. Strong adherence to safety and ability to work with minimal supervision are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to troubleshoot AC and DC electrical systems and circuits.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Basic shop math skills include multiplication, division, fractions, and decimal conversions.
• Ability to safely use maintenance tools, test equipment, and material handling equipment.
• Ability to obtain forklift and crane certifications through company-provided training programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
• Diagnose, test, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble production equipment and components.
• Troubleshoot and service pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Perform repairs and adjustments to mechanical components including clutches, drive systems, motors, and related equipment.
• Repair or fabricate parts, fixtures, and components using welding, cutting, brazing, and related fabrication methods.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and circuits including 12–48-volt DC and 120–460-volt AC systems.
• Perform both major and general repairs on production and facility equipment.
• Accurately document labor, materials, and parts used for maintenance and repair activities.
