BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

Journeyman’s papers or an equivalent degree/certification with 3 years’ experience or 10 years performing complex mechanical work in industrial maintenance. Must demonstrate ability in performing complex mechanical work in industrial maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Performs duties according to specific department guidelines, including:

• Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Proficient in repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removing defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, hand, and power tools, and examining parts.
• Determining dimensional changes in parts by inspecting used parts with rules, calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
• Fabricating repair parts with machine shop equipment such as milling machines, drill presses, lathes, and welding tools.
• Maintaining inventory by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Conserving resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Maintaining technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
• Documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and needs to ensure team continuity.
• Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Reading blueprints, layouts, and maintaining equipment.

Effectively communicating problems and solutions to resolve mechanical issues.

Participating in on-the-job training of line mechanics and apprentices.

Using computerized maintenance systems for data retrieval and entry.

Observing safe work practices to prevent endangerment.

Performing other duties as required.

Must have no serious medical conditions affecting job performance; includes medical examination with X-ray.
