Job summary

LyondellBasell’s Matagorda Operations in Texas is seeking a Maintenance Millwright Apprentice for the Spring 2027 term. The role supports day-to-day maintenance at the Matagorda plant, located 13 miles south of Bay City, under supervision of Maintenance Supervisors and site technicians.

Anticipated internship dates: January 11, 2027, through May 7, 2027. Responsibilities include shift communication, routine maintenance, paperwork accuracy, safety training, and building professional relationships

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Completed at least two semesters in a Machine Tool Technology degree plan from an accredited school.
• Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Valid driver’s license and own transportation to work.
• Willing and able to work outside under various weather conditions.
• Able to work 10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm.
• Capable of climbing, working in confined spaces and from elevated platforms, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Wear appropriate protective equipment.
• Pass pre-employment screening including fitness-for-duty requirements.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Communicating effectively during the shift regarding key equipment information.
• Performing routine plant maintenance as instructed.
• Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork.
• Performing maintenance duties in accordance with local maintenance procedures.
• Completing mandated safety and regulatory training (Computer-Based Training).
• Maintaining effective and professional relationships with all coworkers and responding appropriately to their requests.
• Following safety rules and contributing to GoalZERO culture.
• Being responsible for performance and progress.
• Demonstrate improved performance based on feedback from Specialist, SME or Maintenance Supervisor.
