Job summary

King County’s West Point Treatment Plant in Seattle seeks an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (journey-level) to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair rotating equipment and piping systems, supporting reliable plant operations. You will work independently and with a team, using PPE and lock-out/tag-out, and participate in capital projects, with opportunities for advancement within the unionized organization.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of safe use and operation of hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
• Strong understanding of welding techniques MIG, TIG, and stick.
• Experience reading mechanical drawings and schematics; capable of documenting work clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of complex mechanical equipment including pumps, blowers, gearboxes, and piping.
• Install and repair large wastewater piping systems ensuring safety and operation standards.
• Fabricate and modify plant piping and heavy equipment; contribute to design improvements when appropriate.
• Safely operate a range of tools and machinery; mentor less experienced staff.
