Job summary

Furst-McNess Company is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Lake City, FL to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair plant equipment and facilities to keep warehouse operations safe and efficient. This hands-on role requires the ability to work independently or in a team, read blueprints, and follow GMP and safety guidelines in an environment that blends manufacturing and agriculture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in maintenance, welding, electrical, or related trades preferred.
• 2+ years of maintenance experience in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or agricultural environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate equipment issues clearly.
• Forklift certification preferred; willingness to obtain required equipment certifications with company support.
• Willingness and ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical tasks in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production, packaging, and warehouse equipment, vehicles, and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical (including basic 3‑phase), hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Support fabrication, welding, plumbing, carpentry, and minor construction or modification projects as needed.
• Maintain maintenance records, preventative maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
• Safely operate and maintain tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, lifts, and other equipment.
• Complete facility and grounds upkeep tasks as needed (lighting, painting, snow removal, general repairs).
• Follow all safety guidelines, wear required PPE, equipment lockout/tagout, and comply with GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, productivity, or compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Location: Lake City, FL - Lake City, FL 32055Furst-McNess Company is looking to add a full-time Maintenance Mechanic at our Lake City, FL location.

5-Day Workweek, 8-hour shifts

Available Shifts:

• 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 1pm to 9:30pm (with available overtime as needed)
• 3rd Shift: Monday-Friday, 5pm to 1:30am (with available overtime as needed)

Starting Pay: Compensation will be determined by relevant experience and the interview process

Pay Type: Hourly rate with overtime pay, paid bi-weekly

Work Setting: Onsite, warehouse/production environment with both indoor and outdoor work throughout the year
