Job summary

Pioneer Metal Finishing, a leading North American surface engineering company, is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for 1st shift (5:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday-Thursday) with occasional overtime/on-call. Pay starts at $27-$32/hour with a 90-day review and same-day pay option.

You will diagnose and repair equipment (cranes, motors, chillers, boilers, HVAC, pumps, exhaust), perform mechanical/electrical/plumbing work, and ensure safety and quality documentation while supporting a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Fabrication or related experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing via hands-on training.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, install, fabricate, adjust, troubleshoot and perform related maintenance tasks.
• Communicate preventive maintenance checks and department inventory.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions (cranes, motors, chillers, boilers, HVAC, pumps, exhaust).
• Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing work; startup/shutdown of plant equipment.
• Respond to emergencies 24/7 and uphold safety/quality documentation.

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will

• Works on job duties and assignments as they relate to maintenance, repair, installing, fabricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, and any other maintenance duties as needed.
• Responsible for communicating preventive maintenance checks.
• Responsible to communicate departmental inventory control.
• Diagnose & resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties related to, but not limited to, cranes/hoists, 3 phase motors, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, HVA units, pumps, exhaust fans, etc.
• Perform mechanical, electrical and plumbing operations.
• Performs start-up and shut down functions on plant equipment and facilities as required.
• Responds to emergency calls on a twenty-four-hour basis.
• Works consistently to resolve sited safety issues in a timely manner.
• Responsible for maintaining departmental documentation as required.
• Workings safely at all times in compliance with OSHA safety and EPA regulations.
• Adheres to all Quality System procedures and work instructions.
• Works closely with EHS Leader in the handling, labeling, containment and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions, as directed by the Maintenance Manager

What to Expect on the Job

• Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heaving carts, seasonal high temperature and humidity levels, working at heights, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).
• Must be able to wear respiratory protection when required.
• Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.
• Potential splash exposure near process lines.

What we're Looking For

• Must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Fabrication experience preferred, or similar experience.
• Requires broad based knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing acquired through hands on training.
• Technical degree with a minimum of two (2) years work-related experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Blueprint & schematic knowledge helpful.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to work individually and part of a team.
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
