Job Description:

UPS is currently hiring Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics. This position is responsible for maintenance activities performed to keep a UPS package handling facility operating efficiently and effectively. The work is fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other hub employees. Ideal candidates must be available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift in a 24/7 operation and be open to travel to various locations as needed. Candidates require a strong electrical background and must pass an electrical assessment.

Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Troubleshooting, adjusting, and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo-driven equipment, photoelectric devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and encoders.
  2. Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
  3. Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
  4. Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
  5. Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating as defined by scope of work.
  6. Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.
  7. Must be 21 years of age or older.
  8. Must have an active driver’s license issued by the state.
  9. Must be able to pass a DOT/physical exam.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $38.85 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision benefits after waiting and/or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave, paid holidays, and a discounted employee stock purchase program.
