The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery in a sheet metal fabrication and roll forming operation.
Shift: 5 am-3:30 pm M-Th. Once trained, the shift will be 3 pm-1:30 am, M-Th. Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

- High School Diploma or GED required; College or Technical School is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of sheet metal machinery and their functions.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a maintenance technician role.
- Minimum 1 year experience with pneumatic systems.
- Minimum 1 year experience with hydraulic systems.
- Basic electrical experience.
- Root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Language skills: Ability to read and write routine reports and orders, understand instructions, communicate electronically, basic computer skills.
- Mathematical skills: Ability to perform basic math with attention to detail.
- Reasoning ability: Ability to interpret and carry out instructions in various formats.
WORK DEMANDS
- Attendance required Monday through Friday during normal hours; overtime may be available.
- Physical demands include regularly standing, occasionally walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must lift/move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Occasional exposure to cold, hot, electrical shocks, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise.
