Job summary

Poly-America, L.P. is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team in Grand Prairie, TX. The role supports electrical and electronic systems across manufacturing machinery and related equipment.

You will troubleshoot, identify improvements for safety and reliability, and manage control software. A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required plus 3+ years' hands‑on experience in PLCs, power distribution, instrumentation, and AutoCAD schematics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Engineering Technology.
  • At least 3 years hands‑on troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with PLC, three‑phase power distribution, instrumentation, and VFDs/motors.
  • Proficient in creating electrical schematics with AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide troubleshooting expertise to maintenance personnel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, maintainability, reliability, and operability and execute small projects from conception through installation.
  • Specify electrical components to optimize standardization and reliability.
  • Assist in improving and executing the maintenance electrician training program.
  • Manage machine control software applications.

Poly-America, L.P. is currently seeking an Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, construction and agricultural films.
Dedicated to providing the highest quality polyethylene products, our team of chemical, mechanical, electrical and process engineers is at the forefront of modern plastics technology. The company’s innovative design team is responsible for several technological breakthroughs in blown-film extrusion and bag making. We also maintain one of the most sophisticated on-site labs in the plastics industry.
The engineer will support maintenance groups on a variety of electrical and electronic systems for a range of manufacturing machinery and related support equipment

  • Provide troubleshooting expertise to maintenance personnel.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements for safety, maintainability, reliability, and operability and execute small projects to achieve these goals from conception through installation and commissioning.
  • Specify electrical and components to optimize standardization and reliability.
  • Assist in improving and executing the maintenance electrician training program.
  • Manage machine control software applications.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • At least three years of hands‑on experience performing troubleshooting or engineering related functions with the following
    • PLC based control systems
    • Three phase power distribution systems.
    • Industrial instrumentation
    • Variable Frequency Drives and induction motors.
  • Skill with creating electrical schematics with AutoCAD.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects while being available to assist maintenance personnel with factory floor downtime issues.
  • The ability to self‑motivate and complete independent assignments or components of group projects in a timely manner.
  • The aptitude and desire to be a good student of Poly-America processes, equipment, and procedures.
Successfully passing a drug screen is required for this position.
